Why this costs $5 and not $50
Most interview prep tools are priced like enterprise software for people who, by definition, don’t have income right now. We think that’s backwards.
Gaugely already runs AI interviews for hiring teams — that’s the business. The candidate side runs on the same infrastructure, so it costs us very little to offer. We’d rather charge $5 to a lot of people than $148 to a few.
One more thing: there is no annual plan, on purpose. A yearly interview-prep subscription is a bet that you’ll still be job hunting in twelve months. We don’t want to sell you that. Pay monthly, cancel the week you get an offer.

Is Gaugely really free, or is it a trial?
Free is a permanent plan, not a trial. You get 20 practice minutes every month, 3 runs of each resume tool, 3 written drills a day, and the job tracker forever. No credit card to start. If you never upgrade, nothing gets taken away.
What does 20 minutes actually get me?
2 complete 10-minute mock interviews a month, each with a full scorecard. A 10-minute session covers roughly 4–6 questions with follow-ups — about the length of a real recruiter phone screen. Minutes reset on the 1st.
Can employers see my practice interviews?
No. Practice sessions are yours alone. They are never shown to recruiters, never attached to an application, and not used to rank you anywhere. Interviews you take for a real job application are separate and clearly labelled as such before you start.
Does the AI actually score me, or just say “good job”?
It scores you against a competency rubric and quotes your own words as evidence for each score, including the parts that lost points. It will tell you an answer was vague or that you never actually answered the question. It was built for hiring teams who need defensible reasons, so flattery isn’t the design goal.
How is this $5 when other tools charge $30 to $150?
Our main business is selling AI interviews to hiring companies. The candidate side runs on the same infrastructure, so the extra cost per practice session is small. We priced it at what it costs us plus a margin, rather than at what the category charges.
Why is there no annual plan?
Because an annual interview-prep subscription only pays off for us if you’re still job hunting in twelve months, and we don’t want a business model that works that way. Monthly only. Cancel when you’re hired.
Will this help if I have no work experience?
Yes, though it won’t invent experience for you. It’s most useful for learning to structure an answer, give concrete detail, and stop trailing off — which is what most early-career candidates actually lose points on. Paste the job description and it’ll ask the questions that role screens for.
Do I need a good microphone or a quiet room?
A laptop or phone mic is fine and background noise is tolerated. If you can’t speak out loud at all, the written drills cover the same competencies in text.
Can I practice for a specific company’s interview?
You can paste any job description and it will build questions from that. It doesn’t have leaked question banks for named companies, and we wouldn’t use them if we did.
